| The Cincinnati Church of Christ is a family
whose members are committed to living their lives in accordance
with the teachings of Jesus Christ as found in the Bible. We read and strive
to abide by the entire Bible and hold it to be inspired and inerrant. We
expect every member to be a disciple of Christ as defined in his teachings.
We were built on the revolutionary and
biblical conviction that every person must first make a decision to become
a disciple and then be baptized. The Biblical Greek word for church is "ecclesia"
which means "the called out". Today we are an international family
that has spread to all nations around the world. We have been called
out from religious mediocrity, spiritual error, atheism and agnosticism --
into a meaningful, vibrant relationship with God.
Our congregation reflects the diversity of our city, with
people of all races, ages, and cultures
attending our worship services weekly. These services are true celebrations,
for the life of a disciple of Christ is the most joyful one we know.
Jesus taught his disciples to not only make disciples, but also to meet the
physical needs of people. Jesus came to help people with both their
spiritual and physical needs. As Jesus'
disciples,
we strive to do the same as we individually try to help whenever we see someone
less fortunate. In addition to helping the needy within the city,
we help support an international charity HOPE
worldwide to meet needs wherever we found them. Without discrimination,
it feeds the hungry, houses the homeless, treats the sick, educates the
disadvantaged, assists the elderly and cares for orphans. Since its creation
in 1991, it has grown to serve the poor and needy in 75 nations on six
continents. In 1999 HOPE worldwide had a budget of 20 million dollars
of which 80 percent directly reaches the people that it serves. It has medical
clinics in the Ivory Coast, South Africa, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico,
Jamaica, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, the Philippines and the United
States. Through HOPE worldwide, leprosy patients are treated in New
Delhi, TB patients in Madras, AIDS patients in Abidjan, juvenile diabetes
patients in Beirut, and recovering substance abusers in Philadelphia. Orphans
are cared for in China, Romania, India, Indonesia and Ukraine and provided
loving homes through the HOPE for Children adoption agency. HOPE
worldwide has helped victims of hurricanes in Florida, floods in the
U.S. Midwest, earthquakes in L.A., Turkey and Taiwan, famine in North Korea
and Zimbabwe, and fires in Thailand. Opportunities are also being provided
for inner city youth through sports programs and technology training. HOPE
worldwide in Cincinnati has had a major impact on the community by
assisting local and state heath agencies to promote children's immunization
programs and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIPs.) HOPE worldwide
is now a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity in special consultative status with
the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and registered with
the US Agency for International Development. Visit the HOPE worldwide web
