At the recent teen sponsored Youth Rally, over 200 people witnessed the debut of Mike Oliva, Guitar & Vocals"Something Real," the all-teen band. Mike Oliva (guitar, lead vocals), Jon Cromer (drums), and Cam Dilts (bass) entertained the crowd as part of the opening of the two day youth rally held at Powell Crosley YMCA. After a patriotic rendition of "The National Anthem", the band played "In Bloom" and the appropriately titled "(Smells like) Teen Spirit". Both songs were originally preformed by the band Nirvana.

The "National Anthem" was moving as the entirety of the young crowd turned to the flag, took off their hats and covered their hearts. This was truly inspiring as I've never seen teens so respectful towards our flag and country. Obviously patriotism still exists! As the band launched into "In Bloom", the crowd moved towards the band and began dancing. Several of the older teens (also known as Teen Leaders) were moved to "head bang" and cheer as they relived their youths!John Cromer, Drums

Mike is an aspiring musician and is considering career paths in the music industry. Naturally talented, and with several friends who graduated from CCM, I have a feeling you'll be hearing him more and more in the future. Jon Cromer plays drums, loves golf and is talented at several sports, while Cam seriously competes in tennis, hunts and loves airplanes.

Cameron Dilts, Bass Beyond the personal enjoyment of the music, setting up equipment and playing "roadie", I was inspired when I found the three band members praying before their performance and telling each other "good luck, I love you". These are truly godly men! Before and after they talked openly and honestly about being nervous and didn't try to cover it up with worldly "machismo". Best of all, they used their talents to both entertain people and glorify God!

Keep your eyes and ears open for more about "Something Real" in the future.
