The pre-teens of the Cincinnati Church of Christ
had the opportunity to make a difference following the September 11th terrorist
attacks on New York. They spent a Saturday morning together discussing the
event and its impact on our world, and how God must have viewed that day. They also
discussed how God looks down on the Earth, and how he must have felt about the
deliberate terrorist acts.
The children put their talents together and made
a giant card to offer their thoughts and encouragements to the courageous
public servants that we have in our country. Making a difference is what
being a disciple is truly all about. The pre-teens were excited to be able
to contribute in their own special way. Each child outlined their own hands
on construction paper and then made their own special artwork out of their outlines.
They were all arranged on paper with many special personal messages included.
The giant card was then sent to the Fire Department of
New York City, along with a group picture of the children.
Let us all remember that our young teens want to help and
have an impact on the world around them. We can start now with "good works" in the
community, in our nation, and around the world by making the most of opportunities.
